After many years as a journalist, I am now putting my energies towards advancing policy I believe in. I lead strategic communications for the Geothermal Energy Office at the Cascade Institute. In this role, I write op-eds, organize events, and manage the campaign to build support for geothermal energy in Canada.

I also sit on the board of Transport Action Canada, advocating improved transportation systems nationwide.

Prior to this, I was a journalist covering policy, economics, and industry.

I spent over 10 years covering mining, in Canada and internationally, for S&P Global, Mining Magazine, and other leading industry publications, producing in-depth reports on how the industry manages contractions in investment, how the sector applies decarbonisation efforts throughout operations, and how it manages relations with local communities, primarily First Nations communities.

I also specialised in tailings management and disaster responses, as well as covering the years-long effort to establish an oversight body to encourage better tailings management practices.

For a few years, I covered the M&A market in France for Mergermarket, analysing how government programs in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic fundamentally altered French business activity and economic growth.

Prior to this, I reported on Central Asian politics and economics for several years, providing analysis and breaking news to an audience of business leaders and diplomats.

Other areas of interest included religion, Quebec politics, and climate solutions, published in outlets including the Montreal Gazette, the National Post, VICE, Religion News Service, Reuters, The Guardian, Dow Jones, The Ecologist, The New Statesman, The Local (France), Mining Journal, The Northern Miner, Forbes, and Corporate Knights, among others.

In my early career, I was a parliamentary researcher in the UK House of Commons for the Scottish National Party (2003) and Labour (2007-08), and taught international relations at the City University of New York (CUNY, 2005-07).

I’ve worked in New York, Washington D.C., London, Paris, Amsterdam, Vancouver, and Brussels. I speak English, French, and Italian, and am currently re-attempting German. I’ve forgotten more Norwegian and Russian than I care to think about. 

I split my time between Montreal, New York, and Paris.

I earned an MA in Science Journalism from City University London (now City St George’s), and an MA in Political Science from McGill University. I graduated first in my department at Marist College for my BA, earning the Faculty Award. I also studied at the London School of Economics as a Hansard Scholar.
